A good technique for improving cohesion is to practice rewriting . So, take a text you’ve written and try to reorganize your ideas, use different connectives, or restructure your arguments. This helps improve the clarity and organization of your thoughts.

The ENEM essay has been part of the exam since its first edition, aiming to promote discussions on topics of social relevance. Thus, the proposal requires that the participant demonstrate knowledge on a certain subject and take an informed position.

According to the Participant Handbook , to achieve the maximum score of 1000 points , the participant must meet the five established competencies:

Competence I : Demonstrate mastery of the formal written form of the Portuguese language. Aspects such as syntactic construction, grammatical deviations, writing conventions, choice of register and precise vocabulary are assessed.
Competence II : Understand the writing proposal and apply concepts from various areas of knowledge to develop the theme within the structural limits of the dissertative-argumentative text in prose. The total understanding of the proposal, the scope of the theme and the use of productive sociocultural repertoire are assessed.
Competence III : Select, relate, organize and interpret information, facts, opinions and arguments in defense of a point of view. Consideration is given to prior planning of the text, clear presentation of the thesis, selection and coherent sequence of arguments and development of ideas to justify the point of view.
Competence IV : Demonstrate knowledge of the linguistic mechanisms necessary for constructing arguments. The appropriate use of cohesive elements between and within paragraphs is assessed, ensuring textual cohesion without repetitions or inadequacies.
Competence V : Develop a proposal for intervention to address the problem addressed, respecting human rights. The proposal must be detailed, indicating the agent, the action to be taken, the method of development and the expected effects for society.
