This means that a risk of confusion could arise in the mind of the final consumer.
I'll give you an example:
When you go to the supermarket to buy a product, but you find yourself faced with two items that apparently seem the same, if the brands on the packages tend to look the same, what self employed data happens in your mind?
Easy!
Stop getting confused and buying one product for another.
If the brand is totally different, however, these doubts will never arise, because you are able to recognize what you want to buy.
Do you want to not be recognized or mistaken for another brand?
I don't think so.
