ChatGPT, OpenAI's chatbot, has been available to the general public for several months now and has enjoyed dazzling success since its release. With ChatGPT, OpenAI has shaken up the ranks of tech giants, so much so that Google was forced to unveil Bard in early February, an equivalent to ChatGPT but which differs in several ways. Let's take a look!

1. Updating data
Bard has real-time data updates, as Google's chatbot is directly connected to the web to provide fresh, high-quality answers. ChatGPT, on the other hand, is limited by its reliance on a knowledge base that hasn't been updated since September 2021. This means that OpenAI's chatbot is currently unable to provide answers to very recent events.

2. The language model
ChatGPT is based on OpenAI models and GPT-3 technology, which stands for Generative Pre-trained Transformer 3. Microsoft is using this technology for its new Bing, unveiled just a day after Bard.

On the other hand, Bard is powered by another language model specific to Google: LaMDA, which stands for Language Model for Dialogue Applications . During the presentation of Bard, Google also israel mobile database its position as a pioneer in the field of artificial intelligence with BERT, one of its first Transformer models, but also its technologies such as PaLM, Imagen and MusicLM.

3. Availability
While ChatGPT has been available to the general public for free since December 2022, Bard is not yet accessible to everyone. Google's conversational service is open only to trusted testers but is expected to be rolled out more widely in the coming weeks, according to the company's official blog post .

4. The cost
In addition to its free version, OpenAI has launched a paid version: ChatGPT Plus, starting at $20. This premium offering allows users to access the chatbot even when demand is high ( ChatGPT is at capacity right now ), get faster responses, and have priority access to new features. On the Google side, Bard will most likely be a free service integrated into its search engine.
