A few years ago, SEO guru Al Ries proposed to the Guatemalan government that the country's name be changed to "Guatemaya." At first glance, and without any data, I'd venture to say that the proposal seems positive.
However, there has been much debate about proposing to change a email database country's name. I believe it's a valid option if it can attract more tourism or more public support. But it's clear that this is a purely marketing-oriented approach. What do you think?
Esto es lo que opina algún otro marketinero en el blog AdPulp:
"The name of a country, an actor or a product from a marketing viewpoint is the same thing. The purpose of a marketer is to SELL more stuff, whether it's money or people's willing to support something. I don't know Al's reasoning to get to Guatemaya but it's perfectly valid to propose a change of name, even a country's."
