This Report is being written mainly to inform Viking supporters of the progress, (or otherwise), of Viking teams in the Final Series of the 2013 Competition.

For those supporters of other clubs, whose clubs choose not to use the IDRU website to keep them informed as to how their teams are performing, I don’t mind mentioning that the Major Preliminary Semi-finals were held in perfect conditions at Camden Rugby Club on Saturday (Aug.31), and apart from the surprising unavailability of Black Beer on tap and some unseemly and uncalled for advice for the referees from a minority of spectators, it was an enjoyable day’s rugby.

In Third Grade Tech-Tahs defeated Camden 40-17. In Second phone number list Grade Camden defeated Shoalhaven 20-18 and in the First Grade fixture Camden had a convincing win over Shamrocks 34-17. The losers of the above Saturday matches now go on to play the winners of the Minor Preliminary Semi-finals, which were held the following day (Sunday Sept.1) at Shoalhaven Rugby Park.

Vikings teams featured in all of the above Sunday matches, playing University in First Grade and Shamrocks in both Second and Third Grades. There’s good news and bad news for Vikings supporters. Firstly the bad news. University were too good on the day for the Blueys, winning 41-14 and eliminating Vikings from this year’s Competition. I congratulate them on a deserved win. Having seen both University and Shamrocks play on the weekend my guess would be that University will eliminate Shamrocks next weekend and go on to contest the remainder of the season with Avondale and Camden. On their day University could beat either. The good news is that Vikings won both Second and Third grades against Shamrocks and have progressed to the Minor Semi-finals to be held at Vikings next Sunday Sept. 8.

With regard to the three Viking teams still in with a chance, supporters should note the following. The Colts will play Shamrocks in the Major Semi-final at Kiama next Saturday (Sept. 7) at 12 noon. On the next day (Sunday Sept. 8), at Vikings, Vikings Thirds play Camden at 10-45 am and Vikings Seconds will play Shoalhaven at 1.25 pm. Please get along and give them your support.
